You Just Keep Coming Back...

Being a marketing guy, I care about customer loyalty. And while I think of myself as the only customer here (I only write to make me happy,) I do appreciate that once you've been here, you keep coming back. I'd probably like to know more about what you read, but that would mean I'd have to change the site around a bit, and frankly, I'm just not that into it.

Anyhow, welcome my friend from Beijing- I know you're out there. And I'll give a little shout out to my crunk friend in the ATL. The juice is always cold, so come on in.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot to say today but I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you. Thought it would make you feel good to know someone out there cares.

May your dreams be sweet, your life spicy and your drinks ice cold-

Anyone Interested?

Hello readers. I know some of you are quasi-foodies like myself, and others just like to have a good time.

Is anyone interested in a little evening out sometime in March?

http://www.nwsource.com/contests/restaurants/25for25_0307/

Email me if you are interested and I'll try to put something together.

You'll have to copy and paste because I can't seem to figure out the old formatting at the moment.

It's Thursday, it's all downhill from here... This week.

I'm working on database today, just plugging away, which is good, but mind numbing. And I have a banging headache. Which I can guarantee has nothing to do with the beer I drank last night at Trivia, which our team won. I had the headache before. The Fosters made it go away for a while.

I'm afraid I'll be of little use in my hour long meeting with the new vendor that shouldn't be happening yet. (People too far up the food chain got involved and now the president of their company is here meeting our "decision makers"- unfortunately decision makers don't really do that, and this meeting is about six months premature)

And there is no agenda for the meeting. It'll be awesome. Here is a sampling of what will be sure to come.

T-what do you have to show us today?

V-well, we have...

T-I've seen that already, is it any different from last time we talked?

V-well, we did...

T-right, you told me about that. I don't really care about it, but can i see it?

V-well, its not exactly ready to...

T-I know, but neither was everything else you showed me. (Which BTW- I wasn't impressed by because every other vendor that wants this book of work already does this, and a lot better, but you snuck in and showed it to my bosses boss, so now I have to pretend like I'm paying attention) I'd like to see if we are tracking along the same lines. Can you show me?

V-well, we haven't really...

T-right, okay. well can you show me the design spec?

V-Oh, well... I left that in the office.

T-Huh, you came across country and have a laptop, but you left what we're here to talk about in the office? Well, can you tell me the spec?

V-Its complicated.

T-I know, that's why I want to see it.

V-Well I don't really understand the spec, so its hard for me to explain...

T-I know, but aren't you the one who came up with the spec?

silence

Another 57 mins to go in the meeting.

Awesome!

And Maybe they'll tour too...

SANTA MONICA, Calif. I made it home...

Safely! Not a lot to report, ate well. drank okay. Did lots of business.

May have to travel again in two weeks for work.
To Vegas.

While that sounds like a great time, I don't think my sweet love thang can come along, and I doubt I'll have tons of fun without her there, so I'm really, really hoping I can convince my bosses that this one is unnecessary. Plus, it really is work, start at 8, go til 5, dinner with industry people. (By "industry", i don't mean porn or food service)

I like to travel, but I don't like doing it for work. Am I alone here?
When I do, I find that its usually 10 hour days, I have to talk for 9 of them + entertaining in the evening. Sure its all free to me, but I'm sure there are other costs. And it wreaks havoc on my schedules. I feel so disconnected with everyone, and then I have to work all weekend to catch up anyway.

Does anyone else have this problem? What should I do different?

Ideas?
T

On a complete side note... Professionally I am kicking ass! Several new innovations I come up with over the past several months are looking like they will get to see the light of day. Which is very exciting. Its really fun to dream up crazy what if we did this kind of shit, and have people get behind it and think not only that its a cool idea, but that its doable, and its way better than what we do now, and its the right thing to do. So while I bitch a lot, it all comes with the territory.

Welcome One and All

Dear Gentle Readers,

Remember that picture I posted with the visitor analysis?

Guess what, my audience is growing. Welcome all. I'm so glad to see that we are appreciated and being read on three different continents. Make yourself at home. The jokes and the drinks are on me. Feel free to speak up. It doesn't have to be all rah, rah you go bloke. If you think I'm being a fuck head, say so. Just be willing to back it up. The therapy isn't just for me, its for everyone, so say how you feel. Post a story. Share with us your Ironies and wisdoms. And remember, spelling and grammar don't count. Lets hear your gut.

I met Jin Hahn...

So a simple typo became a legendary in my own mind salutation.

Jin Hahn, is actually a print sales manager named Jim Hahn. A very nice guy, who would probably be flattered to know that I often drink to him...

And I had dinner at Morton's last night. Freakin' Awesome.

And no, did not let a 60 year old guy drink me under the table.

Maybe my boss will be able to do it tonight. This begs the question... What is better for the advancement of my career? (This from a guy who is obviously concerned about that since I am the only person in a building of several thousand that wears jeans every day, hey at least mine are designer.) Should i let him win? Or should I beat him down like the dog that he is?

Gin Hahn,

BTW- I HATE LA. LA SUCKS. AND PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE ARE BABIES AND KOBE BRYANT APOLOGISTS. KOBE IS NOT A ROLE MODEL. HE IS A PREDATOR.

Wanna be hip?

Check out VSL.com

I think thats the address. Its Very Short List. Sign up and you get something new and cool in your inbox each day. And its not porn, so you can read it at work.

But now that you know if you sign up, we level the hip playing field, and I'm not as hip anymore.

Oh well, I don't mind sharing.

Fuck Off

Hey-
Sometimes we all get a bit tired of taking the shit. The following post is just that. Sometimes you just don't want to fuck with me after a long week and then a long weekend of battles with some kids that are clearly great kids who have parents that are making life more difficult for them than it should be.

Anyway, I always just take it, I always just let it go, I always take the high road. This morning, I didn't. I'll probably be paying for it for a long time. But WTF, I have to pay anyway, but I don't have to lay down and take it.

Gin Hahn,

revised...this is what got sent....

Quit trying to take my attention and my time.

Really, after re-reading your email, and catching again your last line, all I really have to say is that you can take you air of moral superiority and stuff it up your ass. The dream that you have here that you are the constant queen of everything good and righteous in this world and that I am a no good lazy fuck up who never acts like an adult and is the only one causing all the stress in the lives of our children is mind blowing. Get your shit together, get out of my business, grow up, and get off my back. LOOK AT YOURSELF! Oh, wait, I forgot, Everything is perfect in your world. Your sister had the perfect marriage. Your parents had the perfect marriage. When was the last time the boys saw their grandfather? Why should they be made to choose sides? Why should you? I don't have anything to do with that, but I can tell its bothering them. It has clearly effected them the past several months. But you blame that on me. Do you think they would try to do or say anything to you that would displease you? They are smart kids.

Don't throw anymore stones from your glass house my way.
And stop trying to aggressively and passively put yourself between me and my sons.

PS- Don't bother replying unless its an apology.
